i found a washer on my battery the otherday that looked like a bolt was ripped through it so i thought no big deal it must be one of those extra parts then today i hear the shock dangling around

the bottom shock bolt is gone? andhere is whats leftover

thats a half in dent in the shock from i think the bumpstop rubbing.
my question is should i just put some new washers and 2 new bushings (top of shock mount and bottom of top shock mount) i looked at the other side and it looks like there is 1in of play so a bushing must have blown out. let me know what you think

 

I'd buy a new set of shocks, perhaps front and rear.

k i put them back on they seem to work fine new bushings tho..


they are pro comp so there 70 each

however i think they are shocks for 4in lift. will that damage anything more. looks like the top mounts are bent up a bit. i only have one bumpstop on the left side any one knoe were i could get another one cheap

 

oh and 2 nuts went on that sucker this time

 

if you have no lift i have a set of brand new fronts and slightly used rear procomps ill sell ya for 100 bucks

 

you should NOT have shocks on it that are made for a lift, if you do not have a lift

 

^it would be better to have your shocks be too short than to have them be too long. although still not good, over extending the shock will be ok because things will just hang there. even worse is over compressing the shock as it will jam everything up, making things want to bend/break -- which could be the reason your top mounts are screwed up as you stated. btw, what are we looking at in the 1st pic? looks like the top stud of a shock, but in the pic i looks like it's not attached to the shock?

 

ya idk why there on there... i think there the 4in lift ones here are more pics/ the left side is missing bumpstop looks the worse the actual shock is bent along with the mount. once there is a bumpstop on there is the mount already bent as far as it will. can i check it without messing with tbar. tryed flexing but ifs sucks so you know how that went

thats the 4in lift code right?

 

No I don't think so a 4 in lift one I don't think would have that much chrome showin but I could be wrong

 

yeah you've DEFINITELY bent that upper shock mount up with those long shocks...

it should be perpendicular to the shock; the rubber mounts shouldn't be crunched up like that on one side; they should sit evenly all the way around

 

were can i get a cheap used bump stop for like a few bucks

 

wow thanks for the pics, thats what i needed... i wish there was a easy way to see how much toobig the shock is i may try rubbing grease on it and go off a jump

im dont going to even try bending the mount back MAYBE if i get the right size ones

 

find a few places somewhere on the frame that are in the same place on both sides and use measurements from your good side or a buddy's truck to bend the mount back to where it should be, then gusset it.

 

x2 your shock mount is definitely bent. should be flat for an even contact patch on the shock bushing.

the shocks that you SHOULD have on the truck should definitely be under 10" compressed length. for example, the OME N98 shocks which are meant for our IFS rigs measures 15.3" extended and 9.8" compressed.

the shocks that you are running now, the Pro Comp 31851 is 18.66" extended and 11.52" compressed. your shock is definitely too long.

actions like this is could be the reason why your stuff is all bent up. how's the alignment?

 

Haha it defiantly is the reason.. Im wondering if the bent mount is compensating fo4 the 1.5in
