Shifter slipping?

Alright so my truck is falling apart lol. It is a 1990 Pickup.

There is a new issue, that I thought would have been a simple fix (still might be?), but I think I was wrong.

When I shift in to first gear, some times it feels like the linkage is slipping or something to
that effect. The lever moves, but something inside the transmission does not so it is not
actually in gear, but the lever is as far as it will go. Same thing happens sometimes with thirst and reverse. I can feel that it starts moving the linkage, but then starts slipping on it
instead of actually pushing it. I thought it would just be a loose bolt or something until I took off the book and realized everything is internal.

So my question is, could it still be a loose bolt? Should I take off the shift plate and look around, or is it not that simple? Also, could it just be the bushing?

Thanks

I looked at your profile and dont see which truck you have. If you have an older one, I woud try replacing the shifter bushing. It probably needs changed anyways as most are really worn.

Sorry about that, it is a 1990 pickup.

Thanks!
