Shifter boot question

Hey guys Im about to start into swaping a 5speed in my truck and the tranny didn't come with the shifter boots. I was wondering if it was like an outer boot more rubbery and then the interior boot that is just for looks or are they made together? Also the trim around the interior boots, is that part made on the boots or seperate and is it the same in trucks and 4runners?

Thanks

this is one out of an 87 4Runner. It has a rubber boot and a metal frame, there was a vinyl boot that covered this with a plastic frame that AFAIK was detachable from the plastic trim piece.

The black rubber boot/metal frame part in the pic above appears to be the same on my 94. The plastic surround with the pleather sock was only used on models with the bucket seats and centre console. Trucks with the bench seats had nothing. The pleather sock clips into the surround and is prone to mold growth on the underside. It can be removed from the surround easily and either washed with an anti-microbial soap or easily replaced by just about any upholstery shop... FWIW mine is being done over in genuine leather as I type lol...

You definitely don't need the outer cloth boot that covers the inner rubber boot. They are pretty low quality, and attract lots of dirt, dust, dog hair, etc. Mine always looks filthy. It would probably look better without it.

actually that rubber gunges up pretty fast too and is next to impossible to clean properly at least with the boot you can take it right off.
The biggest problem I find with keeping it clean is from slosh over from drinks in the cup holder above it...
The part will turn up eventually I'm sure... It took me a few years to find a centre console but I finally did...
