So for a first gen 4runner, what is the anti-rust sealant the FSM is referring to for body repairs? This is from the Body section:



I know that I need to re-do the sealant in the rain gutters, and I also pulled the quarter panels off recently to paint them, and had to chip through some old decaying sealant (with mesh laid into it?) I also assume this was the same sealant that helps to hold the hood together.

Can anyone point me to what I should be using to re-seal all these?

 

Likely seam sealer. Sold by tube or can at Napa. Available in clear, white, gray and black. It sticks to metal like nothing else. Its my "go to adhesive" in the garage. Never use silicone,,it just does not bond to metal.
