Anyone know a good mechanic in San Antonio. Looking for a Head Gasket repair on my 94 v6.

Toyota wants 3500 bucks before machine work.

2200 seems to be about the going out of dealership rate.

A new crate engine eBay and so on is 2800 from Denny’s auto or 4400 for rebuilt from yotashop. I’m against this only because I feel if I have a problem with the install the installer will blame the engine rebuilder. Don’t want to get into this battle.

I only put about 3-5000 miles on the truck each year so if it gets me to 50k after the rebuild I would be happy. The truck blew it at 198k.

I was told by one shop that once the head is on it may forever smoke ?

Anyways. Suggestions on a SA mechanic here anywhere ?

Try this shop. Never actually had them do anything on my truck but have talked to them over the phone. Knowledgable on 22RE and honest.
