safari snorkel ?

ok so im trying to decide on what swap to do on my 94 to get rid of this damn 3.0 anyway i was looking into a 3.4 but here lies the problem. i want to put a snorkel on it for deeper water crossing but the intake runs to the opposite side. are there any other snorkels maybe from a tacoma or landcruiser(i have one on my tacoma) that will fit the body/winshield lines. any help would be appriciated, i am trying to get my plan laid out and get all the parts for my truck before i start cutting the suspension off then pulling the motor. thanks in advance for any advice that you guys may have mike

You could always just buy the snorkel head and put it on the homemade snorkel.

I've thought about this too. I've got a 3.4 but really like the look of the safari snorkel ( not the head, but the whole plastic piece) and would like to see if anyone else has used a tacoma one on their runner

Make a foam mold and use fiberglass to make one

i am going to take mine to a diesel exhaust shop and have them bend a 3 or 4" stainless steel pipe to fit properly then put the safari head on it.

dont hold me to this but on safari's website they say that they have a passanger side snorkel for the 3.0. i have yet to call them but their website shows it.

Ss136hf is the part number. it says tacoma but the picture looks like a pickup.

but i will also add that i have the driver side snorkel and it will be very easy to pipe it over to my 3.4 airbox on the passenger side.

Pull the one on your Tacoma and see how close it lines up.

yea im going to pull the one on my taco i just wanted to see if anyone had done it before i pulled mine. also thanks for the part number i will look it up and see what i come up with. the only other thing i could think of would maybe be a t100 snorkel b/c the t100 came with both the 3.0 and the 3.4 different years but its a possible source. someone correct me if i am wrong

just looked it up that part number shows it on a early 1st gen tacoma. that is what they looked like, very similar to the pre taco pickups

i will keep everybody posted as i find out more info. arb just emailed me back saying that they basically can not recommend one because of liability issues but did not say anything else would not work more or less said one would but they could not tell me which one would work. i will be off for a while so i will be pulling at least the section of the snorkel on the outside of my tacoma in the next week or to just to see how well it lines up with the outside of my runner. if anyone else happens to get a chance to try out maybe a landcruiser or maybe a xj cherokee be sure to post up what you find out. i beleive the xj has the snorkel on the side of the vehicle that we will need.

Just a quick question here, if I was to put on a snorkel, would it increase performance since it is taking on more air being outside, or lessen the performance since there is more bends to get to the engine than stock air intake? Thanks.

I think if you're gonna look at getting a snorkel you shouldn't be worrying about performance but rather the functionality it provides to your rig when crossing rivers.

heres mine for $20 bucks from a wrecking yard. i used two different intakes, one from a 90's s-10 and the other from a early 90 Taurus. A little cutting and some paint and looks pretty dam good. I get people complementing me all the time and allot of attention on the trails/road..
