rv with 22re.. electrical cutting out while running

I mistakenly put this in the 84/85 forum.. sorry bout that

My 86 rouge toyota r.v. has been great, but now the electrical is cutting out while its running. This has been an issue for about 4 months and now and its gotten to the point i dont think it will even make it to the repair shop. The truck starts and runs great and then, out of the blue lose all the electrical (except head lights and horn). It doesnt seem to be related to bumps, heat or hard driving, it will happen even while idling. Ive had to wait it out for up to 25 minutes for the warning lights/pre start signal to come on, then it fires right up and repeats. Its also happened very quickly and the buzzer will come on while im moving.

Ive replaced the ground wire to both the block and added an additional one to the fire wall. I also by passed the ignition switch to coil, replaced the 80A fusible link on the positive side of the battery. Next I cleaned the contacts in the ignition switch and now Im pretty much at a loss. I have plans to use it next week and dont know any mechanics in my area.

Thanks for any help

Get an inexpensive volt meter (if you don't already own one) and take a few voltage measurements like at various fuse box locations while it is running goo then repeat the tests after the electrical cuts out. Then you can compare the two and see if you can find a pattern to the problem, like a common point where the working things are connected and the non-working things are connected. Also, I had this happen one time on my '85 4Runner, just cut out in the middle of Nebraska about 13 years ago. I pulled over and pulled out every fuse, checked each one (no bad fuses found), put the fuses back and it fired right up. My guess is I had one or more fuses with oxidized contacts in the fuse holder. By pulling and reinstalling all the fuses, I rubbed off the oxidation and got good contact on all the fuses. Problem has not re-occurred since then.
