Exclamation Running rough, wont rev?

Alright here is the problem, the other day i was driving back from Louisiana going about 70, well i ended up having to slow way down due to traffic. As traffic picked up again i gave it some gas and it felt like i was out of gas, misfiring or in to high of a gear, so i downshifted to second and it did the same thing. Well it all of a sudden fixed itself and i carried on. I got home and checked my oil as i have a drip and can smell it when the motor is under a load, it was low so i filled it.
Today drove a few miles and parked it for probable 20 minutes went back out to go somewhere and it idled at about 500. I ignored it until i went to go and it wouldn't go. seemed like it was misfiring or the timing was way off. so i tried revving and it would barely respond and i could only get it to rev up to 2000 RPMs even when flooring it. So i started to drive to see if it would resolve itself and sure enough it did. It was jerking slightly in first and would only rev to 2000 so i shifted and heard a pop and it then picked up and ran like normal.

Any ideas. I also set the timing to 12 a few weeks ago and it did good up till the past to incidents.
sorry for the long post but i wanted to include the whole story. And by the way its the 3.0

IMO, while the plugs are relatively new, take a look at them anyhow..they just may have a story to tell.

I will try to pull them out tomorrow, and take a look. I'll post up and let yall know. Thanks in advance. What should I be looking for on them. Since its not a constant problem it will have to be some permanent damage to them or something right?
