Yea, first.. in this situtation.. spray them with a rust pen. spray.. I use PB nut buster.. others will likley chime in with what they use.

And, I dont know if you want to get it.. but craftsman sells a rust bolt out kit. It has 10 heads in a kit that fits various size nuts.. its made in such a way that it bites into the nut.. no rounding ever. I have never had a bolt not come off.. in fact in cases where the nut is rust welded to the bolt.. you know where its so rusted to it the only way it to cut it off.. this thing is so strong, with use of a breakerbar, will shear it off..

never had bolt not come off. Are you using a breaker bar? Always helps, trust me.

ANyway, even letting them soak in penetarating oil for like a day helps.

Get a breaker bar with a extension and just break the bolts.
Then throw the running boards in the trash can.

Just let them soak in PB blaster overnight and get a breaker bar. Problem solved.

I've never needed to to soak any bolts in my life. If they are stuck, I just put a long pipe on either a wrench or a socket wrench. Makes breaking bolts loose much easier.

do you have air tools? I am guessing not, but I have removed about 5 rusty sets of running boards with my Aircat Nitrocat and NEVER had one think about being stuck

EDIT - show me a link to a $350 set of toyota running boards please - I just trashed 3 sets of them after noone would come get them for FREE

Get some penetrent lube.

I use liquid wrench foam, works great - people tell me PB blaster works great too. Personal prefrence I guess.

Let them soak a few days then have at them.

break out the torch. works every time, no matter how big or how rusted. removes paint very well also.

The link to my auction on ebay won't work anymore, but I just sold my old set that had been sitting in my closet for 5 months for $350, plus $45 to ship. Not bad for sitting on my a$$ at the computer.
