Rubbing noise up front when turning cold
#22
Might be the spindle bushings. There was a TSB for groaning when cold. See here for more info:

I had the same problem, although the sound was only coming from the passenger side on left turns. Sounded the same though and I only heard it when it was cold. Took out the passenger side CV shaft, cleaned out and repacked both joints, and replaced the rubber boots and it seems to have fixed it.
Hopefully this helps if anyone runs into a similar problem.

It recently dropped below 20 degrees here in KC and I am experiencing the same symptoms. The nose does not go away if I turn the engine off so I know it's not the PS pump and to make it stop i usually have to turn the wheels the other direction or come to a complete stop. It seems to me that it is coming from the drive line but I have no clue what could be causing it. Did you ever resolve your issue?
