I saw this kit on roundeyes and was wondering if anyone has tried it and what they thing about it.

Im planning on doing this conversion and this kit makes it so you only buy replacement bulbs when they go out instead of the entire houseing. Im doing this for legal road driving visibility and then also 2 hella offroad lights for offroad only. thanks for any input.

 

I don't like the fact that they are not glass lenses, but they seem okay.

I like the hella e-code replacments, but they are not DOT approved.

I did the Hella conversion and love it. You can run any type of bulb, from regular ones to special aftermarket style. They are glass, so you run the risk of taking a rock through one, but I put a rock guard film on them and have had no problems.

As stated earlier, they aren't DOT approved, so if that's a concern in your area, you might want to go with the Roundeyes. I guarantee they're better than your stock halogens.

 

im more worried about condensation in the round eyes. Im really not too worried about the DOT crap, my truck is not close to being "legal" anyways.

If i were to order from roundeyes I would buy a set of the blue lights for all the trucks here.

 

Ya but with the polycarbonate that is "unbreakable" it is less likley so severly break than a glass housing right?

 

I've got the hella conversion, they do have a legal one too btw, it's better than stock, and cheaper than the roundeyes one (i think mine were about $70-$80) they came with hella bulbs too, all dot stamped

I like them, they are better than stock, but I am looking into doing a real hid projector retrofit, as I already have horrible night vision, and everytime I go to see my mom I get jealous of how nice the lights are in her bmw

before I do the hid stuff I'll probably try the 4crawler harness, as that seems to be recommended around here

Edit: I just looked through a bunch of stuff on the round eyes site, and it all looks pretty much over priced to me, atleast for what you are getting anyways, just my opinion, you can get clear headlights on ebay all day long for less than $40 a set (I know that they are cheap for a reason, that's why I got hella's, with a hope that they put some R&D into the reflector and hella is a good brand) I don't knwo anything about round eyes, maybe they are quality maybe they aren't?

 

Im not worried about that to be honest, I have never had one break or crack. Its the condensation I am most worried about, seems all the plastic type lights on cars always have some water in them. It rains...pretty much all the time here so this is a must.

After looking at the hella kit I think I'll go with that one. A polycarbonate lens in more prone to dulling and scratching and the glass would be more long lasting or durable as far as ware and tear. The mesh rock guards look bad ass anyway

hella e-codes are probably the best you'll find, get some good osram bulbs for them.

According the the website its b/c of the beam pattern and output. TBH I dont care and would run the e codes anyways.. Mostly cause the new HID lights are worse if anything.

Output doesn't matter to me (as far as "too bright to be legal) but the beam pattern does. I think I just need to do a bit more research.

More than anything (regardless of Halogen or HID) the performance has mostly to do with the reflector/housing. That's why many of these HID kits are complete crap - because they don't have the appropriate housings to aim the lights correctly. I can't speak for all cars, but on my car with HIDs it automatically levels the headlamps everytime you turn them on to account for the way the car is loaded down and keep the light beam from shining directly into oncoming traffic.
