Roof Rack Ideas

Any one have an easy roof rack Idea for the 91 4 runner? Pics would be cool. I have some old window security bars that would make a good rack but they are solid metal, might be too heavy?

Depending on how big you want you can refer here to some idea's that I used on mine, If you want some updated pics let me know, I since then have roof lights front and rear, and a ladder on the side of the truck

Awesome rig bro! I'm looking forward to my roof rack and brush guard. I don't have have an existing rack to build off of at all though. Any suggestions or input on how to mount one on a smooth roof?

I hear that skydiving i'm a lil moneyshy at the moment lol. He'll, the cheapest used bull bar I can find is $230! I want a full brush guard though since I learned my lesson with a broken headlight cover. I was hopin to rip one from someone for a bill or less but no such luck.

My front 2 load bars over the driver doors and the rear passenger doors are Thule 400xt foot kit with a adapter for the 4runner all in all I think 2 load bars, a 400xt foot kit and adapter was about $300.00 roughly, the material I bought for about 90 dollars but I bought way to much in fact I've made 2 other racks with the amount of material I bought by accident and sold them. My rear load bar is a factory load bar which you can get out of a junkyard

I wish I could put my ladder on the rear like 3rd gen guys do and landrovers but I have that stupid fold down truck tailgate so thats why its on the side, its unique I guess, believe it or not I trash picked that from my old room mates bunk bed and it matched right up to the body lines with a little chopping!

I'll check the yards for the stock rack, maybe I'll get lucky finding a 2nd gen runner lol
I just don't want any roof leaks after I drill through.

Maybe you could put hinges on the top and a bracket on the bumper if you want it on back. Then if you needed to open the tail you could just throw it up and out of the way.

I thought about that when I was putting it all together last summer and I open my tailgate so much it would just be a pain. but it would be nice!

I like the brush cutter wires! You don't see that very much anymore. Old school land rover style.

Those are brushcutter wires. They are madde to protect the windshield, lights, snorkel etc... from over hanging or low hanging branches and stuff. May seem pointless to some but if ev er had to replace a windshield or othe such stuff make sense for initial cost.

Here's a pic of my old 90' runner with my rack on it. A little small, but it did the job.
