Rod bearing question

Are the rods supposed to be able to move side to side along the crank like this? on a 22re

Pirate - I think a little bit of movement in that direction is fine, especially on worn bearings. Are you thinking of replacing them? There are specs for the crank on movement in that direction, I guess it tells you if you need new thrust washers or something, but as far as I know, there is no "thrust" measurement for the rods. If that is your block and you have it down that far, sure would be easy to throw new bearings in there.
