finished up the timing chain last night. Little 91 runs like a champ so far but time will tell.
Started at noon finished at around 10ish. not bad for my first timing chain job and to be honest it wasn't that hard just a lot of work and i like to move slow and double check my work. I should be back in a yota by monday or tuesday!!!!! I guess the loss of one truck kicked me in the butt to get the other going. I love the fact that i have friends that let me borrow their trucks but man am i sick of putting gas in the f150.

In high school I had an F150 that burnt up in my driveway with similar damage. I didn't have it for 11 years but my grandpa had it for 9 before he gave it to me. I'm amazed at how attached you can get to a truck. Sometimes I still wish I had rebuilt it, but now I've got my yota and I'm really happy with it. Can't wait to see what you do with the 84. Should be a blast. If they had 4 doors I would have got one of those. Good Luck.

the 84 will be in my hands in about a month. The person selling it to me is buttoning up some loose ends on it and throwing a newer motor in it as well. He's my Toyota "go to guy" and will take good care of me on the 84 so i told him it's not pressing and to take his time so the truck is right when i get my grubby little paws on it. The 84-85 Toyota trucks are my "Eleanore" (see gone in 60 seconds) AKA dream rig so i'm super stoked to get one.

Yeah, even I might not attempt to refurb that. You would need a complete new wiring harness, AFM, probably alternator, intake, and potentially injectors. Aw heck, you could just upgrade all of 'em. It could be put back on the road!
I think I would be making the same call that you are. The difference is that the Firerunner was simply exposed to a fire, and partially melted. Your truck actually caught fire!
Sorry for your loss. I can't wait to see the buildup of the '84. I have serious SFA jealousy.

yeah he called me and let me know it should be ready by thanksgiving. I let him know to take his time and make sure it's right that there was no rush as i have a daily driver right now. Trust me as soon as that thing gets to me there will be a thread dedicated to it.

Since the addition of the "thanks" button i'd like to extend my gratitude to the members that sent their condolence's for my burnt truck. The whole (as dumb as it may sound) yotatech community that chimed in with their sympathy actually helped me fell better about the whole ting and i can't thank you guys and girls enough. It's funny web wheeling was like therapy and worked out well. I spoke with my toyota guy with the 84 and he's projecting the truck being done by the end of this month so as soon as i get it in my drive way it'll be posted up for all to see. I told him to take his time on it as i have a reliable daily driver in the form of the 2wd truck "travis" Thanks again all it was more appreciated than many of you may know.
