Reverse Signal Wire on an Auto

Hi everyone,

I recently built up a car computer using a raspberry pi and Crankshaft Android Auto Build. I am getting ready to install a rear view camera in my 86 4Runner. I want it to auto-trigger the GPIO to swtich from the standard android auto screen to the rear camera view. I'll be using a 12v relay to trigger the GPIO, but I would like to tie the relay into the actual reverse trigger wire on the transmission instead of the rear lights. This way I can shorten the run of wires to the between the GPIO and Relay.

It's an automatic transmission and I'm sure it has a trigger wire that tells the system to turn on the reverse lights. But where is it? Anyone know? I assume it's near the transmission bell housing, possibly even near the floor shifter itself, but I don't want to go stripping wires willy-nilly just to check for voltage readings.

Thanks in advance! No Field Service Manual here.
