reverse sas

While searching CL for a replacement for my heep cherokee dd i found a great deal on a 1st gen 4runner. $1600 and its clean with no rust and a professionaly rebuilt 22re with 5 spd. Exactly what I am looking for and you just cant find removable top runners cheap or clean around here. The problem is he has cut the suspension brackets off of one side on the front in prep for long travel. I have 2 complete ifs's in my yard from a few sas's. How hard would it be to weld ifs brackets in square and aligned? Has anyone done this or even built there own hd brackets? I already have a sas toy and want a stock dd rig. Any opinions?

While it would be possible I am not sure anyone has ever gone in this direction .

Just like anything else take your time lots of measurements tack and measure repeat.

Then be careful of heat input in final welding .

It all comes down to your skill level keeping in mind that it is much harder to do a reverse SAS .

Many more attachment points to make mistakes.

Forsure something one does not want to rush .

It would be easier to swap in the complete intact front of the frame.

We all look at things different.

No matter how it plays out Good Luck.

You would probably save yourself a lot more work just to swap in a solid axle.
If you want an IFS truck/4Runner, go out and buy one, they are cheap and plentiful.
Save your sanity and the almost guarranteed failure if you try to install IFS.
A body swap would probably be easier if you want IFS on that specific vehicle.

or easier to find an IFS frame to either swap in or chop/splice the front of it onto yours.

not worth it. if its been SAS'd It should remain SAS'd for the rest of its life. unless you plan on building some crazy long travel and want to start with a clean frame, go for it. I'd just start with an IFS frame if I were you.

I guess I have to agree. After looking at the brackets they look fairly complicated. Found another but not quite as cheap or nice. Wish another trail rig was in the budget: )
