reverse question

O.K. anyone else here know where i'm coming from? when i stop my truck and get ready to throw'er in reverse, it always grinds, unless you wait a good 10 seconds (not exagerating)<----- probly misspelled. i always rub 4th on my way to R, it's become a habit. that stops the gears. (yes guys, the truck is at a dead stop) bad syncros?

P.S. I am tranny stupid if you have not figured it out

Yea, thats my guess bad syncros. I drove a shop truck that sounds like what you're talking about and thats what it was.

Would it be bad synchros for the other gears? I always read that reverse doesnt have a synchro. On my 92 runner sometimes it wouldnt go into reverse on the first try, so i just double clutched and it went in smooth.

time to check the shift bushing, many posts about shifting problems have been related to the bushing either on its way out or gone completely.

reverse doesn't have a synchro on our trucks. if it did, you could shift into R when you're still moving!

Check the pedal bracket attached to the firewall. You may be developing a crack in it, which allows the assembly to flex, but not give you the full travel of the clutch pedal.
That said, I'm going to change MY bushing too.

Yeah, check the release/slave clutch cylinder for appropriate extension before you mess around with the tranny. The travel on the pushrod in the slave cylinder may not be enough to fully disengage the pressure plate.
