Resonator box removal?

In the process of building my project '87 pickup 4x4 I'm deciding on where to put a dual battery setup. I noticed the air intake resonator box (behind the driver's side headlamp is most likely a good setup for it. Do I HAVE to have this box on these trucks? I was simply going to put the intake snorkel to the filter/cleaner and cap the open hole to the resonator. I know on the 3rd gen 4runner we have a mod to remove it and gain some HPs. Thanks for any info.

Oh yeah.........you can yank it. Search ISR mod. I don't know the entire ramifications of just plugging it up, but most everyone just routes the line to the intake hose.

Yes I looked into the writeup section but it didn't list one for the 22r. But I thought it was just the same at the 3rd Gen 4runner mod but wanted to be sure. From my other searches it seems like a battery is pretty much a perfect fit with another tie down as in other countries the diesel option required 2 locations for it. Now onto getting an isolator kit and other parts. Thanks!
