If you use wire, the only thing ive found that worked is a piano wire with some oil (it gets hot). The guys that do the windsheilds have a hooked razor blade you could probley buy for about 20 bucks but im not sure where. Kicking it out is fun but does make a hell of a mess. I traded a guy a front and rear smitty bumpers for a new windsheild and install (150.00) is his normal price and does a great job. Took us about an hour and to get my buddies window out with the piano wire, anything else we tried broke after a few tugs.

Make friends with glass guys. I did, costs me $200 installed for new windsheilds

They have all of the right tools, and experiance. There are very few things I don't do myself, and thats one of them.

I used a long sharp knife. It takes a while to do. That glue is tough.

He got it at Lowe's, or Home Depot. It is vinyl\rubber cove base they use in commercial carpet and vinyl installations. It is 4''x48'' found in the flooring dept. I don't know what he used to glue it down with though.

Holy hell $350? Seriously? Wow. Safelight quoted me 186 or some crap for a winshield. Then again its my gfs best fried who's my hook up. Lol

I wouldn't kick it out. Been there done that on a 83 s10 (sbc 350 swap w/ an edelbrock performer intake and carb). Shards of crap everywhere and it left glass on the edge still stuck to the truck. One of the reasons it pissed me off and I gave it away.

Anyways. yah. Can't wait to be off unemployment so I can get a new one.. 186 bro

Heres the tool for removing the windshield: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002SRDR8/...SIN=B0002SRDR8. Using wire might damage the plastic trim on the inside. Also, if you scratch any of the paint getting the sealant off, be sure to touch it up with paint, as rust around the windshield is hard to repair.
