I believe they do break in... "sag" after time, requiring you to adjust a little to maintain exact ride height. I don't see why they would have a specific service life though.

Hopping on this old thread since Im about to order the Fabtech kit for my 1988 2WD truck and adding the sway away bars... Reading above, I may not even NEED to add the kit and bars if I'm just looking to run say 15 inch wheels, 7-8 inches wide, with 30 inch tires? Or will I still need the kit to fit that size under the stock 2WD? Thanks!

 

You will absolutely need a lift on a 2wd to fit 30" tires. You'll possibly need a small body lift too or you might still rub tires a bit on the rocker or inner fender area
