Replaced clutch, its a 93 pickup with a 22r motor in it. Had to drop motor to get transmission out, swapped in clutch kit and fly wheel and put it all back together. Bled the system and it drove ok at first, then would not want to go into reverse too easily when running, would go in not. After driving more it would have a hard time shifting. I swapped slave cylinder thinking it may be leaking in some air, it works a bit better but still have same problem with reverse after driving it a bit. After the job got done I ran the transmission a little low on fluids. Not sure what could be causing this. Wasnt doing this before, reason I replaced was because I broke the bolts off to slave cylinder and screwed up drilling them out so swapped bell housing and while doing that did clutch ect.

 

Why did you have to replace the clutch in the first place? You didn't replace the master, slave, and clutch all at one time?

 

Have you adjusted the pedal at all? Sound like your slave cylinder isnt getting enough throw.

It only has a hard time going into reverse? Could be the shifter seat.

Where in Vt are you? I think I see this truck in Hardwick from time to time?

 

There is a truck that looks pretty similar to mine in Hardwick, I go through there sometimes so it could have been me also. It has a hard time going into first gear sometimes, but mostly in reverse and only after driving for a bit. Also sometimes it wont go back into 2wd. Have not adjusted the pedal.

 

I replaced the clutch because I broke off the bolts to the slave cylinder because they were loose then drilled into threads and couldnt retap, so I said the hell with it and tore everything apart, found another transmission and bell housing for $40, swapped bell housings and figured while that was all out I did the whole clutch kit swap, fly wheel and slave cylinder after having these issues.

 

Sounds like your getting air ??

Dirt on the fittings does not take much.

Rubber hose swells under pressure .

Broken clutch pedal bracket??

Junk hydraulic parts??

Low fluid level in trans has started a bearing on it`s way to fail.

Gotta be one of these.

 

A stab in the dark, but you do know the clutch disk is directional and can be installed backward? That's one of the few mistakes I haven't made yet so not sure what that results in.

 

Im hoping its just air getting in at this point....pretty sure the disk went in the right way, things work alright most of the time.

 

Was the pedal.

 

Love the easy fixes. Often times after a clutch/flywheel change the pedal needs to be adjusted.
