Replace power antenna

Hi all, new to the forum! I tried looking, but couldn't find anything without possibly poring over complete build threads. I'm just trying to replace the power antenna on my '86 4Runner, does anyone have a replacement they recommend? Any tips Thanks.

The "mast" is replacable. https://www.antennamastsrus.com/Toyo...01984-1988.htm Do you know if you need the whole shebang?

It should be just the mast, it broke off in a car wash. Motor still works just fine.

In theory, you can jumper the power feed to run the core (a nylon rack) up and out, then reverse the process with the new mast to feed the core back in.

In practice, you can't. You should be able to remove the fender liner and reach the power unit. There exists a tool
Amazon Amazon
to remove the bezel nut on the top, but I was able to very carefully twist it off using a large screwdriver. Once you remove the whole power unit, you can carefully remove the cover to remove the broken end of the core. Rather than power-feed the new core in, I just wrapped it in and reassembled. Then you install the power unit inside the fender, hook it up, and test it before you re-install the liner.
