Removing the Belt/Clutch Fan
Hey, i recently picked up a 87' Runner with a 22-RE with 316k on the body and 27k on a jasper reman motor, it runs pretty good im just trying to get a little more TQ out of the little booger the motor seems to sounds like it really strains when the clutch fan fully engages , has anyone took the fan off and added a 12" electric fan and if they have can you tell me how much of a difference you felt ?? thanks

Yeah, definitely. If you take off the stock fan assembly and go electric, it'll give about the same amount of pep that taking off the belt for the AC compressor would.
Plus being able to turn off your fan when in deep mud or water is a huge plus.

Whether it's bypassed or not, if the compressor still has a belt on it, it's taking engine power to spin it. If it's bypassed, just take that dog gone belt off lol.

Thats what i meant, there is no belt on the compressor , and what about that speed sensor thing that says 22-re AUTO, will that make any complications with it being converted to 5 speed??
