removing 80-A fuse

The 80-A fuse on my truck is blown. I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to get it out. I've read probably every thread I can find on the topic, but still can't figure it out.

Any one have any tips????, preferably with picture guidance

All of the other fuses lift up and out. The 80 Amp you have to pry this tab to the firewall and push out the bottom.

Here it is mounted to the Fuse. It mounts behind the wires. I usually have to take a 8mm socket to the screws the first time. They can be TIGHT. The screws on each side of the fuse clamps the 80 amp fuse to the Fusible link.

That tab should go forward to let the assembly slide out of the box. Once you get it out, the bolts that hold the fuse to the Fusible link need to be loosened. Those things are on way to tight if it is the first time it has ever been taken out.

You can get a replacement 80 amp fuse at the local part store. It has some long legs to reach down to the bolts.
