Remote Controlled Fog Light Set-up

I want to get some fog lights online today. I need more light on the road.

I found some that I'm interested in on ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-B...1%7C240%3A1318

These say they are HID like and have 60,000 candle power. I read they have an H2 bulb which is pretty good.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SPORT...QQcmdZViewItem

These have an H3 bulb.

They are $1 difference in price which I don't care about.

I was wondering if the H3 bulb would be a better choice?
I just want the one that will put out better light.

Thanks
Scott

to be honest, both of those kits are probably crappy. Sorry no firsthand knowledge of those particular ones.... The reflector is pretty important to get the light from the bulb out on the road, so it could be more important to stick with a reputable brand. I prefer Hella, or their "less expensive" brand optilux. You can usually find either pretty cheap

I buy all my lights and toyota switches here:

their website is not quite high-tech, but great service/shipping

I haven't seen any hella lights that come with a remote control though.

Are their kits to convert them into a remote controlled light?

Oh, well I found a kit that comes with a remote.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/REMOT...QQcmdZViewItem

But then that would put me at $30 for the lights and $12 plus shipping for the remote wiring. That's a little more than I wanted to spend.

I was thinking getting the cheap lights because they most likely will break and I didn't want to break nice ones. lol.

What's your reasoning for wanting lights with a remote? Just curious why you can't wire a switch up or something...

Well. A remote sounds really cool! lol. And it will be useful on the nights I need light while walking to my car, and it will make it easier to find in a parking lot too! lol.
That's pretty much why.

Ha, that is true.

Those remotes are mostly useful to find your car.

Yeah, I would love that! lol.

I'm getting all tech here because I thought of something that might be really cool.

I have clear blinker light lenses on my front bumper. (I have the front runner bumper that doesn't have the blinker lights mounted in the bumper. They are kind of half way mounted in the bumper and valance.)

Anyways, anyone think it would be possible to convert these to fog lights??? They are in a great place and I would make the front blinker to work in the parking lamps! but still work as parking lamps. hehe!

I guess I would have to buy some lights and rig the bulb and harness into the blinker light housing. I know I could do it, but would the light projection suck? becuase the blinker housing really isn't meant for a fog light???

Thanks

That sounds like a cool idea, but also a lot of work. I also don't know how restictive your clear turn signals will be from projecting light.

ahh, didn't realize you specifically wanted remote... I doubt range is very far.

As far as turn signal lenses, do not put more than a 20w bulb there, a 55w fog/driving lamp will melt the housing

Hmm. I actually was deciding against doing this, and this just confirmed it. lol.

Yeah, I remote has around 100-250ft range which is pretty good I think.

I decided to go with the Optilux. I bought a pair of fog lights for $30 with shipping which is pretty cool. Cheap! As far as the remote, I think I'm going to look around some more online and look for a wiring kit for cheaper than on ebay.

Well, they ran out of the fog lights I bought so I didn't get them.

I was wondering what will a rainbow lens look like on a fog light????

There is an Optilux with a rainbow lens but if it's blue or something I don't really want it.

Thanks
