I heard it was just under 6,000rpm for the 22re, its around 6500 on the v6.

and of course the tach goes to 8,000rpm... like we are ever gonna rev it that high.

i never had a tach. try this. run it in 1st gear till the engine cuts. then shift. watch the rpms. set the tach redline at about 250 rpms before the engine cuts out. thats how id do it.

the 3vze (v6) has a redline of 5800rpm. I believe the 22re's is the same. The 3vzfe found in the camry however has a redline of 6500rpm...

Make your redline about 4500 RPM's because there's not much point in pulling past that in a truck.

Yeah, I had always heard 5500RPM was the redline. I'd probably set it at least 700RPMs below that.

sorry I spaced out, its just under 6,000 for the engine.

But like Coed said, there is no real point to winding your little 22r past 4500rpm.

I thought the Camry was a 2.5...

I love how quick it revs though. My 3.0 seems to rev much slower. Maybe because it's spinning the bulky flywheel too.

Well, My 3.0 hits the limiter at right around 6,000RPM, I've never taken it there, but I've taken my friend's there... Just take it out of gear, and punch it, see how high it goes until it bounces. Then set it there. You won't hurt anything, because the rev limiter is there to protect you, just don't hold it there for very long, like 3-5 seconds, MAX

Stand on the gas pedal and watch the tach...when you start to hear the valves float (It will REV really high, drop down in RPM's then hold there) set the limiter just before you heard the valves float

Go ahead and just set it around 5600 and you should be ok.

You have to remember, just because it is the "red line" doesn't mean that that is the rev limiter. I hope that makes some sense...

Just because you can do something doesnt make it a good idea. What is the point of redlining the engine when the sweet spot on the power curve is between 2200-2800?
