Recommend shocks

I have a 1995 Tacoma 4x4 130,000+ miles. As far as I know it has never had new shocks. It's a little rough riding when going over bumps. I was wondering what anyone would recommend on what kind of shocks to use. I kinda like Monroe brand, anyone have any experience and can recommend a model for a smoother ride?

I did some post reading before I bought mine. Some here say Monroe Sensa Tracs for the plush ride. I went with Tokico Trek Masters since Tokicos were what was already on mine. It helped my ride since my front shocks were worn, but the ride is not plush.

Many like Bilsteins here, but they are the most expensive and most say they have a stiff ride. From what I read here, Ranchos are a little stiff too.

I love my trek masters, but I also like my ride a bit stiff. All I know, is it rides much better than the blown ones I used to have.

Anything new is going to blow away those oldass shocks.

That said, regardless of on or off road, Bilsteins are great. If you want something a bit stiffer for flying on the parkway, KYB Monomax were very good.

At one time I put on a set of Monroes, hated them. It was down right scarry driving with them. Almost like driving with no shocks. My 4Runner would sway like it wanted to roll over on most turns. Add a bump on that turn an hold on and pray. I quickly swaped them out for my present Bilsteins. Awesome shock! They are firm but not harsh. Better ride than the stock Tokicos. I had teh Bilsteins on with the stock springs and still have them on with my lift. I vote Bilsteins.
