Rebuilt 3vze issues
Hello all. I'm looking for a little advice here. I recently tore down and did a complete rebuild of my 3vze in my 89 pickup. The engine idles high when cold (like around 1500-1600 rpms) and after it warms up the idle drops to about 800. Also my exhaust smells rich. Anyone have any ideas or starting points? Thank you in advance!

As for high idle when cold and warmed up, that sounds normal.
Does it smell rich upon cold start or after its warmed up?
Could be a bad o2 sensor, stuck injector.
What kind of gas mileage are you getting?
Might want to also check fuel pressure.

Hey thanks for the reply! It is smelling rich like it almost makes your eyes water when cold and warmed up. It's got new injectors, new fuel pump etc. which are all denso parts. As far as fuel mileage goes I'm not sure because I haven't put 20 miles on it since the rebuild. The previous owner hollowed the cat out and put a glass pack muffler on it so I've been thinking of changing back to something more stock since I just invested all this $ in the motor
