Rebuild Electrical Problem

Hey guys

Got 200 miles on my rebuild. Running pretty good, although I suspect a little lean. I brought my rig into the garage to replace the thermostat, PS belt, and check the timing.

When I was putting on the PS belt I was using a bar to pry the pump up while I tightened the bolts.

The bar arc'ed across the + battery terminal. No biggy, right?

Went to start it and I got nothing. No tone, no lights, no dashboard nothing.

Heres the deal:

Checked ALL fuses, in engine and cab. all are fine.

I got 12.5 v at the 80A main fuse, and all the engine fuses except the lights.

EFI and starter relays check out.

Any ideas? Busted wire? Fried Relay? cooked Wire?

I'm not sure what to check nexted. Ground wires on the battery are all fine.

the arc was very minor just a little pop, no red glow nothing.

Thanks

Just tried it again

I got tone in the cab, dashboard lights, headlights but when i turned the key just a click and no starter.

Then the system went dark again, nothing, no tone, no dash lights, no cab lights.

Weird, sounds like a short or a frayed wire.

any ideas?

Clean all the ground connections and both sides of the battery connection, eg clamps and posts. Swap out quesionable fuses with brand new ones. Check the torque on the battery cables on the vehicle side. Verify the ignition switch is firmly seated to the key housing. Perform the ECU tests per FSM.

I've seen cars rewired when all it needed was checking the ground staps. it happens alot..
