im looking at the differential section. theres 2 types of powertrax, a lock-right, and a no-slip. hoping lock-right is what i want?
edit- thats for the 8inch diff. for the 7.5" diff theres less choices, and the e-z locker looks most likely.

ok. i went out to look at stickers and such to figure out my diff size, but i couldnt figure out which numbers i needed to look at and use to figure it out. one of the stickers on the inside of the drivers door got riped off or something, and theres one left, but im not sure it helps me any, then theres the 2 or the inside of the hood.

If you have 2WD and 5 lug axles, it's the 7.5" diff. If you're considering switching to 4WD, the front is going to be 6 lug, so you'll probably want to change the rear axle in the long run. Look for a wrecked TRD Tacoma in a junkyard and get the rear axle with the elocker out of it...

There is a true trac that locks but not for the Toyota diff 
A Weismann would be the best of all worlds - but not for the Toyota diff
A detroit locker is theoretically stronger than the lunchbox lockers (lockrite) which dont replace the diff case.
ARB locker has manual controls so there are some on road advantages to that.

you have a 7.5" if you've got a 2wd w/ 5 lug.
ewong is right. there is a lot out there that is pretty sweet, like the eaton elockers, LSD when off, spool when on, but they aren't making them for the yota axles yet.

pretty hard to read, but i think ive got it kinda figured out. and thats a great price for me. i could have that in a week or two. is that something that would work for my situation?

alright. finally found the axle codes and such for my truck. 7.5" diff, 3.42 gearing, 2 pinion open
therefore through the link i posted above it would be the 6011 part# for $282.**

Buy it from PORC. I bought one from him and got just about the best price on the net. I believe it was just under $250 about 6 months ago.
Call them and talk to Alex and just tell him what you have and what you want. that way you get the best price and the right ▓▓▓▓ too.

Btw, AxleIke has a good point. While they say it will work fine in a used carrier, if your's is too worn it won't lock up right. If you can get it reworked when you get it put in you'll probably be glad you did.
I put mine in myself and knock on wood it's been fine. I don't really recommend it though unless you're the adventurous type. I'm actually surprised I pulled it off but I:
A. Was dead set on not spending any cash for labor
B. Did my homework 10 times over
C. Took my time and marked everything and put it back together exactly like it came apart...
My 3rd was also recently worked over by Zuk so I wasn't worried about wear at all.
Call them and talk to Alex and just tell him what you have and what you want. that way you get the best price and the right ▓▓▓▓ too.

definetly lock the rear, not a lsd. installed my arb recently and havent even needed to lock the front hubs in yet. freakin rocks. FWIW if you get a locker and decide to get a 4wd IFS truck later you can swap your 7.5 locker into the front of your new truck!
