Rear Window Wiper Problems

Okay, first of all I am too stupid to take the blade off, I looked at it but it doesn't look like it comes off easily, does anyone know if I can replace this at a local Auto Parts store or do I need a special part from Toyota?

My main issue is that the arm doesn't go all the way back up, it hits on that stand it sits in. I made sure it's secure (was loose) but it won't go all the way back into it's spot. Sometimes it's down far enough that the back window won't roll down (spend a day checking fuses to figure out why the heck my stupid window wouldn't roll down!).

Anyway, any of you experts out there have any advice, LOVE to hear it!

Maybe I need a new motor for the wiper? But it works great when it's running, just doesn't "park" well

you might have to remove the wiper arm ass'y and rotate it one spline towards the top in order for it to park properly. check under the cover in the cargo area, to ensure things are working as they should be and there are no loose parts.

Mine did the same thing -- wouldn't go all the way back up because the nub on the wiper would hit the edge of the channel block it was supposed to fit into. So I very carefully took two 10" adjustable wrenches and put each on the flat part of the wiper arm ( one near the bottom and one near the end near the fulcrum of the blade). Then I put a little longitudial twist into the arm -- just enough to tip the end of the wiper nub up,, so it wouldn't get caught. I also replaced the the wiper refill. The old one was worn and that, too, was allowing the whole arm sit closer to the window and not stick up far enough to let the nub seat properly .

Thanks, I'll give those a try. A new wipe blade might help since it's really worn down and it's just BARELY not making it up there.

My first thought was to try and find some of that spray Chevy Chase used in Christmas Vacation to lube up the block so that little arm just slipped right up there! (Sorry, big Vacation fan and those movies CRACK me up!)

If you haven't had the arm off, you shouldn't have to take it off to rotate it a couple of splines just to get it to sit where it should. A very light dab of simple grease on the underside of the nub and in the "driveway" of the pocket will get you the same result.

Oh and by the way, the blade assembly is a dealer item only

Simple Green eh? Is there anything that stuff CAN'T be used for? My mom uses it to kill ants, my dad to get grease and stains out, etc.

I guess I'll give it a try. It would sit where it's supposed to if it didn't get stuck on the front of the block.

Thumbs up Thanks

Glad I came on this... kinda forgot mine was broken too. Haven't used it for a while... but when I did, I got it up by rolling the back window down until the window edge caught on the wiper. Rolled up the window to snap it in place!! But, prolly should fix it.
