rear shocks

I bought some pro-comp es3000 shocks (good for 2" lift) and since it was such a nice day I was woundering, can I do my rear shocks without jacking the ass end up? Can I just unbolt the old ones, compress the new ones, bolt them up and be done with it?

yup

Id get a helper if possible.

The bushings may be stuck on - use a 2' peice of 2x4 and a mallet to knock the shocks off frou outside the truck.

If the new shocks are high pressure (Bilstiens) I hope yer strong.

Toyota thought to make the stock shock mounts welded studs so its pretty easy to slip a new shock on to the existing stud hanger...

The shocks are used ( almost new) so I can pretty much compress them if I put my weight on them. I would amagin I only have to compress it maybe halfway. Should I spray some penetrent before I giv'er? Im just hoping they will be better thent he 16 year old ones on the truck now...

Toyota was smart - the shocks are held on (at least mine are) via an INTERAL threaded hole in the center of the "pin", not an external thread (as if it were a welded bolt)... the actual nut holdind the shock on is quite small as its not really stressed....

holy freakin hell, I got the top bolts off both but the bottoms will NOT budge! Jesus! I was usuing my legs and all I was doing is pushing myself along the driveway.

I sprayed the bolts with some Deep-creap and will go back in an hour and check it out, I sprayed on both sides of the bushing. (not in the bushing).

get out the old propane torch, and be careful not to heat the shock too much. you'd be surprised what a little heat will do
