I think my rear end is going out. As I pick up speed it starts a whine sound and gets louder the faster I go, also it only does it when I'm pressing on the throttle and quits when I let off. Is there anyway to verify it is the rear end and not just the carrier bearing?

when you checked the rear driveshaft how much movement did you have?
I recently had a pinion nut back off

 

I could only get it to move about 1/8".
