Really newb question

I have a specific question on the 89 4runner. I'm working away from home and bought the 4runner for a work vehicle. I dont even have a screw driver with me. lol Any way my right CV is shot, and I can remove the shaft from the knuckle by hand, my question is, isn't there supposed to be a snap ring on there? The local shop wants $180 labor per side, I think thats a little steep. Would rather do it my self, but if I need to buy a bunch of tools, It might be a push. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

lmao yeah thats a temp fix like a day or so max, but if the cv was that bad it could have pulled the little snap ring off, and ive never gotten my cv's professionally done so i dunno prices...
