Question regarding 3.0 engine
just a quick question. My wife who gets to drive the 4runner called me to tell me the truck was hesitating pretty badly and lurching. she was out with the kids and wasnt happy. all the guages read correctly. i had her put oil in the truck and that seemed to help. could it have been low on oil and are those symptoms of that or bad gas or needing water(she put water in the overflow since there wasnt any.)
Thanks for help guys...

did some stuff
changed out air filter and cleaned throttle body. seems ok, also filled up with new gas. could any of those problems caused the hesitation

If you are adding oil and coolent that is not a good thing.
There is a possibility the the head gasket went on the engine.
Let it go for a while and see if it needs more coolent or oil.

to run correctly you need
1. air
2. fuel
3. spark.
and if anything is bad, car wont go.
varnish on the throttle body is a likely candidate, but the air, fuel filters are more likely.
regular maintenance and you sound fine. bad gas is also possible. also, water in the tank is possible too.
