Putting on fender flares...

So i want to put on fender flares for my 88 p/u. My tires are 35x12x5's, and stick out 4" from the fender...

What i was wondering, is the bottom's of my front fenders are rotted, and the p/o filled it in with bondo..will it be okay to put the fender flares on if theres bondo on there? and if i were to trim the fenders up about 2inches or so, will toyota specific fender flares still be applicable? Is anybody running fender flares with trimmed fenders?

and ummm. how do you put them on? screws?

i want a decent set, but i dont want to overpay. I have contemplated making my own, but i LOVE the "rivit" look. I do want to get them from a quality place, like bushwacker or warn etc.

So your saying just put them on overtop of the bondo?

i'm just worried the bondo will fall out from the extra "weight"

I installed a set of Bush Wackers that i got used for 75$. You could probably find a similar deal so keep looking. I think you'll be fine installing whatever on the bondo, if not then new fenders might be the way to go. On and i just used self taping screws and some sealant when I did mine. Tool less than an hour to install all four.
