22re runs different after exhaust manifold gasket R&R
I am a new member also new owner of a 92 22re 4x4 all stock, 98k miles.
Just replaced my exhaust manifold gasket. R&R went well. Motor now idles rough and low. Also feels like I am lacking in power and have slow acceleration. I checked to ensure that I didn't disconnect any vacuum lines. I even disconnected the battery ground for five minutes, made no difference. Could fixing the exhaust leak have changed the timing? I need your expertise!

an exhaust leak generally causes the o2 sensor to read a lean condition. if the engine was tuned with the leak present, you would now be running rich, and rough. go back and adjust the idle speed and timing (together- one depends on the other) then see how it goes.

Also, don't forget that your computer is going to have to learn a little and adjust to the lack of exhaust leak. Try driving if for half an hour or 20-30 miles and see if that helps.
