ATF - that's what the cap says.

Nope, my cap Is smooth with no writing on it.I don’t know if it was replaced or the writing has just been worn away. It’s a metal cap.

Hmm. I suppose you could have a non-Toyota replacement pump, and that pump could tolerate PS Fluid. But what about the rest of the system?

If I were you, I'd hope someone just lost your cap and replaced it with what was lying around. And I'd use ATF.

I think his P/S reservoir looks like this one, and the sticker is long gone by now.
This is an ebay pic by the way.

the 22re used a different pump reservoir than the 3vze. metal body, metal cap with a big T embossed on it. but, either way, ATF is the fluid of choice and the old sticker stated that (on the metal body). these were mounted on the fender, not on the block as for the 3vze. the pump itself could be the same, but i haven't looked into that.

Hmm, I've been running PS fluid in my 93 for the last 13 years. Maybe that's why the pump is having so many problems now...
