Power steering

My 92 4runner has a nasty power steering leak. I've replaced the pump, that didn't work and I don't have the time to ˟˟˟˟ around with it right now so I'm wondering if I can just pull the belt and live with out power steering until i have more time to give this more attention? I'm sick of pouring fluid into it everyday.

That's why we have professional mechanics.

Not even if you were Charles Atlas.

Thank you for the incredibly unhelpful reply. If I could afford to take it to a professional mechanic I would. If anyone else has some insights on why This can or can't be done I'd be very greatful. The power steering looks like its on its own belt so I thought it wouldn't be a big deal. Anyone out there have anything useful for me? Please? It's a v6 3.0

Sure, you can do that. But, you're not going to like it. How long can you live with it like that? Not long. You'll be back to pouring fluid in it every day in no time flat.

Thanks, I'm not worried about it. I've had vehicles without power steering before.

I ran without a belt on mine for a few weeks. Only was bad maneuvering thru parking lots. On the highway it was no problem. I was real happy to get it fixed.

Check out this link here. I just used this thread as a guide to help me rebuild my power steering pump from my 94 4Runner. I will be posting to that thread as I don't think we need another thread on it. Rebuild the pump...not that hard at all and besides, I'd trust myself more than I would trust Jackie Chan in the main land on the assembly line pushing out rebuilt pumps for sale here....
