hey nice truck i have a 92 also. its funny to read the start of your thread because i am in the same situation as you are im in college and i want to do so much to my truck but your right its impractical. but seeing how im getting money from taxes i think i should spend some money that brings me to my questions about the headers you have. what do you think of them performance wise? were they worth it? what was the total that you spent including the cross over? Did you have any trouble installing them? and should i get them? i dont mind at all how much work it would be.

thanks

i LOVE my headers, they gave me noticeable power and a GREAT sound. but i also have aftermarket cat and muffler. the headers were 445 and the ypipe was 189 dollars. installing them.... sucked, wanted to die lol. is it worth it?? yes and no, depends on how much money you have i guess. close to 600 is quite expensive lol

no, it is not part of the trailer hitch. i removed the rear bumper and had my friend weld a piece of square tubing in between the bumper brackets. the square tube has two light tabs (which were also welded on) for the rear backup lights.

How was the install on these, other than the normal bs that going along with installing headers on a small truck like ours,

ie. did you have to relocate any wiring or any crazy stuff because of the y-pipe, or have you had any problems with the heat that the headers put off?

did you put them on without header gaskets? There site says to, and that sounds all fine and dandy, but from my experience whenever you try to mate to metal surfaces together, with nothing in between, you really, really have to tighten them together to get a proper seat. Just curious, as I would like to avoid stripping out anything on the relatively soft aluminum heads

no i did not have to relocate anything because of the headers themselves or the ypipe. i did tie back some of the wires and wrapped them with aluminum foil. no problems from heat because i pulled those wires back. and no i did not put a header gasket. those headers are precision ed cut to be perfectly flat, therefore no need for a gasket. no leaks, no problems

cool, thanks for the info, a couple more questions:

How was the erg crap (on pass header) done? does it connect like stock? or do you have to cut it like with the downey and others? I am pretty sure that the NWOR site says that "they hook right up" but again I guess I am skeptic,

BTW, I think you should just black out everything on your truck, the front bumper, step bars, windshield trim, everything even the wheels, would look sick, I plan to do the same to mine, I think black and grey looks almost as good as all black

hooks right up man, no additional modification is necessary. i did everything that NWOR said exactly. and yeah i have thought about blacking everything out but im not sure. i think the little bit of chrome on there sets it off. but i have thought about it.

I have to say i like both of the trucks the 91 std cab and 92 xtra cab , although i have to say im not a fan of the camper things.

Heres some pics of my truck before i hit a tree out in the sand dunes which i have yet to fix the body work and in the process of getting another rear bumper. I got 33x12.5 bfg mudders on in this pic. How do you like your headers? i got a sec of aftermarket ones but the guy didnt know what they were when i bought the truck from him. Or the brand of Lift kit used. ;p
Anyway heres some pics , more will come in a few months after i do some major upgrades.
