Poor acceleration and crappy sounding engine
Got an 88 pickup 2.4 EFI 4x4 manual and for about a month now my truck has been gutless on flat ground or up hills it doesn't matter. The more gas I give it doesn't matter it plains out on speed. There is a very tiny spot in the throttle where it accelerates normal other than that small window acceleration sucks. It idles fine but when I crack the throttle it almost dies and then it picks up. Not sure what to do.. I have ran locus fuel inj. Cleaner through it I just took out and cleaned all injectors and replaced gaskets. No change. Tried to run fuel pressure test. Hooked it up at cold start banjo bolt on intake got no pressure reading. So I hooked it up to delivery hose coming from tank to fuel rail still no pressure reading. Don't know what to do anymore.

I have a similar problem. I just bought a 95 4 runner with the 3.0 in it. When I first start the thing is has good power sorta (maybe will hit 50-55mph) but once warm I get the same results as you. On a flat road I cant hit over 40-45 and acceleration from a stop sucks! It was throwing an EGR code (71) and a throttle position sensor code (41) but I think I fixed those or atleast they went away. The lady that had it before me put the TPS on backwards. Ive timed it three or four times and checked injectors and the fuel pressure regulator (unplugged vacuum) and it ran bad. so that should be working correctly. I don't know what else to do or suggest.

Fuel filter? Fuel pump pre filter?
Seconding the diagnostic jumper. Sounds like you may have a bad fuel pump or a clog somewhere.
Also I've had a bad fuel pressure gauge before. I got it at harbor freight and couldn't get it to read anything. Piece of crap!
Another possibility is TPS, though it does seem more like a fuel problem

Any luck on the fuel pressure or filters? I don't see how this could relate as long as you have enough pressure. Im thinking that the EGR could be a possible culprit of the power loss. Malfunctioning and opening when it should be open
