PCV Valve
I need some help!
I had a pcv valve that was stuck solid in my 90 3.0 forever.
I finally got the stupid thing out last night,
but I can not get the stupid new one back in it's place.
I can get the gromet in just fine, I can put the valve in the gromet no problem, just can't find a way to get both in there. I tryed to put both together out side and put it in, but it is a PITA and i have tryed putting the gromet in first, then the valve, once again no dice.
I know it's a tight space, (I have the skinned knukles and fingers to prove it)
I was wondering if anyone knew a trick, or something to help me out on this problem?
I want to take my boat out to the lake, we leave tonight, but I can't drive with out the stupid valve....

make room... the 10-15 minutes it takes to remove the upper intake tract will save you hours of headaches.
ive found using some fresh motor oil around the bottom of the valve allows it to slip in easily.
also, are you sure you have the proper size?

put the grommet in, then place the PCV on the grommet, then place a piece of hardwood dowel rod on top of the PCV and smack the wood with a hammer.
No need to damage the flare on the PCV with a hammer now, is there?

Yeah...that's a great trick, Kirk. I've done that a zillion times with different jobs using different tools.....pliers, wood, and whatnot. You just need that sudden impact to jolt the PCV valve in there.
Might make sure you can get the hose onto the PCV easily before you get the valve stuck in. Otherwise, put the hose on the valve first, use some long pliers....needle nose, channel locks, linesman etc....and hold the valve where the hose connects. Then, just smack the pliers.
BTW, I believe it'll take more than 15min's to get the intake plenum off. You have a gasket to deal with that will probably tear on you. Then what are you going to do?
