I was told it was not needed by a few people but it's really necessary.

I was also getting a little shudder taking off in 1st which I believed was a result of the offset and the axle being pulled - and I was right. On install of the drop bracket the shudder stopped. This probably had something to do with the rear axle not sitting perfectly straight.

My offset went from 5" to slightly over 1", putting the Panhard bar nearly horizontal.

Hope this helps anyone searching for an answer.

Hey I'm doing this right now, and can't get the bolt out from the frame side. The axle side is off.I've PB'd it previous to this and PB'd again yesterday, and still not coming. Is it pressed in there?Or a small spot weld?
Thanks in advance,Dave

Grind it off and find a free replacement at the junk yard. My drop didn't have a bolt with it and so I went to pick n pull and got one for free. Man I need to extend my brake bracket also.

I used a punch and hammer to tap it out. You can also use a like-sized bolt and tap it out as well.

Thanks for all the replies guys! I tried again, and then with heat but notta. So out comes the grinder tomorrow. Got replacement bolts already .
Another thing to do for the brake bracket. Instead of raising it, unhook it from the bracket itself, lift the rod up and attach something from the rod to the frame. This permanently makes the brakes think there is a full load all the time. And especially with the crappy full-on front brakes, back brakes apply sooner and give a little more brake all the time.

I disagree with E-ROC. When lifting the rear, the rear axle housing will shift to the right regardless if you add a panhard drop bracket. To center the axle you need to make the panhard bar adjustable or lengthen it to the correct size.

The panhard bracket essentially does the same thing as a longer panhard bar... By lowering the mounting point of the bar you are lessening the distance the axle has to be pulled to the right to mount at the stock location on the frame. Essentially, the more you tilt the panhard bar upwards the further it gets away from the stock mount location on a lifted rear.

The tilted line represents the angle of the panhard bar if there were no bracket. As you can see, it comes up short. You can have someone stand on the truck while installing the panhard bar with no bracket but this results in the axle being pulled to the right because of the tension on the bar.

Granted, a longer panhard bar custom made exactly for your application is probably a better option, but much more expensive than a $50 dollar bracket. When they both accomplish the same thing, the drop bracket works best for most people.

the bracket doesn't make it perfect. however it does make it much safer on the freeway. before i put on the bracket i had a lot of side to side movement on large bumps. (like a dog waging his tail) the cheap 50 dollar 4 inch drop is a quick easy fix.

I have stock coils right now but my panhard bar is slightly angled. When im flexed out my driveshaft rubs on my gas tank. If i ordered the drop bracket would it throw off stuff to much to put it on till i get my new springs?

Did you mean you had the bracket on before the lift?
My offset is like two inches, its just mainly when im flexed it rubs the gas tank. Would the bracket correct this?

my stock offset was 2" aprox and the stock springs were badly worn. at ride heigth they it was about 2 inches from the bump stops. every bump i bottomed out. i got the OME 900's put in and then i had noticed the driveline rubing the fuel tank. i had a six inch differance put on a procomp 4 in panhard drop and it was about a 1.5 - 2 inches differance and no more rubbing. only one problem my axle still sits about 1.5 inches over to the passanger side. I will make my panhard link 1.5 inches longer

so i did springs first then the drop bracket

Sorry Conrad, I bought my panhard drop bracket for the soul purpose that rear wheels would go back to center. After installation the right rear wheel still stuck out more. As a matter of fact it made no difference at all. With the adjustable rod I can center the rear wheels perfectly.

Hmmm worked just fine for me, I just went out to the driveway and measured again (after a month of driving on it)

What coils are you running?

I believe you must have put it in the wrong place if it did nothing because that is physics every action has an equal but opposite reaction

Keep in mind that the standard 4 inch panhard drop bracket isn't the right thing for every lift. If you lift maybe 5+ inches an adjustable panhard bar is probably the best bet.
