Painting oil pan

Is there any special paint to use on an oil pan, I am planning on using a high temp engine paint? Do I need to use a primer?

I painted some one else's oil pan with just high temp paint I used steel wool to scuff up the pans old paint before painting it.
that was 4 months ago and it is still looking good.

Primer is always good to use.

I stripped my pan to bare metal and painted it with regular engine block enamel, nothing fancy.
