painting or coating wheels
I spray bombed my rig army green
It turned out good but needs one more coat. The alum wheels just dont look right so I want to paint them ultra flat black. How did you do it? how did it turn out? any chipping issues? Best prep plan, best paint choice. I really like Krylons camo series it paints extremely well and covers great.

here is what I did...seems to be holding up. one rim has a ton of rock rash on on it, the paint has not chipped...the only recommendation that I would make would be do a coat of self etching primer first.. before you paint be sure to clean with some form of cleaner--acetone or what ever
not much tech here and I know a ton of people have done this but been wanting to do it for awhile so here ya'go:
before anywork:
about 30-45 minutes with the assorted wirewheels got all the clear coat and road grime off:
cleaned it off with some IPA (isopropal alchohol) works great for cleaning stuff in the cleanroom I work in. picks everything up and dries fast:
yeah duct tape sucks, the next two rims I did I used masking tape...
used crapoleum wheel paint, got a couple of rims out of a can, so used 2 cans.
instructions say to do one light/dry coat than wait a little while and do a wet coat.
I did 4-5 light coats. feel the finish came out better than it did following the instructions on a previous truck.
still have one more rim to do...for a low budget but kind of time consumer project I am happy with the looks...especially since the finish on these craiglist rims was kind of crappy to begin with

From my painting experiences CLEAN THE HELL OUT OF IT, then yea self etching primer, 2 or so coats, then lots of coats of the black. truck looks good!! i wanted to stop by yesterday but we didnt end up coming through until about 1115 last night.
did you clean the truck at all before you painted it? i like the green.

lol NO i wiped it down with an old dirty teeshirt and started sprayin !
the nice thing about a trail rig and spraypaint is just spray it again
I was actually off yesterday and spent the day working on her.
ebrake cable replaced
brakes bleed
honda civic bucket seats installed(comfy)
rear bench nonsense removed
stock buckets mounted in rear
body painted
and "top down screamin out money aint a thang"
