Optima battery mounting

Just wanting to know how everyone is mounting their Optimas. I am currently using the factory bracket with about a 1" thick piece of wood under it (this is the same way I had the last battery mounted). I think this will suffice, as it has worked for a while, but I am definately looking for a better way.

On a side note. Is there anything, like a guard, behind passenger side headlight. When I checked everything out last night after installing the battery, the headlight was shinning a lot of light on the battery. Just wondering if this is how it is supposed to be, I can't remember.

Thanks,
Cam

yes, you should have gotten an optima spacer, approx 1 inch in height, that usually comes with the battery. If not just go to wherever you bought it and request one, or you can get optima to send you one if i remember correctly from previous posts. Sometimes optima will send you one free of charge.

Yea, I didn't get a spacer with mine. I know that it would help lift the battery, but I don't know how much it would help the fit. The battery already doesn't fit in the stock battery tray correctly.

Exeter - With that battery tray, did you bolt the bottom piece down to the inner fender (it looks like it has holes to bolt it down)?

It was an option to have him add the bolts welded on there, and then put nuts on the bottom.

I THINK. There was some sort of option to bolt it down, but I can remember exactly. Mine is PLENTY secure without it bolted, just the j-bolt toward the firewall, and the bolt near the windshield wiper fluid reservoir.

Have had 0 problems with mine.

I sent Brian an email. He said that the battery brackets never made it to the new site and that they were never that popular anyways. He said that he would make me one though. We are talking about the details now. Thanks for your help. I don't think that I want to bolt it down or anything.

I finally found a clear picture of the tray that I used for my install of the Optima battery. It is a very clean mount that uses the base adaptor that comes with the Optima Yellowtop

This is the picture of the tray as part of a Wrangler kit.

It is part of a Wrangler kit for a Chevy but could be bought seperately

" This auxiliary battery tray holds group 78, 34, Optima 34/78, Odyssey PC1200 or equivalent battery "
