OME D6XL Extra Leaf in 1st gen 4runner?

I was wondering if anyone has put the Old Man Emu extra leaf (D6XL) into their stock spring pack as a simple add-a-leaf lift kit? The 4runner I bought has a spring pack with the original load leaf removed and two Rancho AAL's one long, one short installed. It rides like absolute crap!

I wan't something that rides nicely and doesn't sag when I've got all my camping gear in it. Stock ride height is fine with me.

Thanks

What i would do is get yourself a set of original factory leafs and do a ZUK mod. It's the best option as far as ride is concerned.

load carrying capability (ie no sag with load of camping gear) and a cushy ride will not go hand in hand.

It might ride fine with all that weight, but as soon as you offload that weight, you'll have a harsher ride.

If you put springs in to give you that "cushy" ride when unloaded and you put that camping gear in the truck will sag.

Remember it's a truck not a Cadillac. And before someone says it, an Escalade IMO is not a truck. lol.

But two AAL's is probably overkill even if the overload leaf has been removed.

Unless you're towing just remove the AAL and do the Zuk mod. If you are towing then I would get a regular spring pack that still has the overload leaf

Thanks for the info. I will be doing some towing, and I'd like to keep it simple so I think I'll pass on the Zuk mod. Which would be the better AAL to remove the shorter or longer one?

As to the original question, anyone have any experience with the Old Man Emu AAL? Would it be worth replacing the Rancho AAL with one?
