Old Man Emu Shocks
hey guys, i am kinda new at the wheelin thing, and i need new shocks for my 88 runner. it is completely stock, and i kno OME makes nice suspension components, so will the OME shocks ride ok with everyting else stock? and if not, what is another good brand shock?-thanks

ok sweet. yeah i think im gonna do the mediums over the heavy duties. and then, eventually when i have more money do the leafs and torsion bars.. thanks man, have you done anything new on yours?

I think you are missing a bit of the picture with shocks...
Ride isn't determined by the shock, but by the spring. The shock damps the spring, so that you don't bounce outrageously...Unless you are doing heavy rock crawling, or high speed desert, baja style stuff, the type of shock you get really isn't going to matter.
Cheaper shocks are usually liquid filled, and tend to degrade faster when hot, and shocks get hot by repeated cycling of the suspension...When they get hot, they can foam, and that will decrease damping, making the truck harder to control. OME shocks are nitrogen charged, which does much better in the area of heavy cycling. If you do even moderate wheeling, the likelyhood of your ride quality being affected by shock performance is pretty small.
Now, travel can be a bit of a situation, esp with regards to a BJ spacer truck...So, look at that, but if these edlebrock shocks will work, then, no reason not to get them. I doubt you'd notice anything between the OME and edlebrock
