the cup holder in the pickups and the 4runners is just to small. it doesnt hold 20oz. Mountain Dews and it doesnt hold Yohoos. the best thing i found is to jam that sucker right inbetween the driver seat and the center console. it holds it nice and snug and is right there whenever u need it. other then that, i just hold it in between my legs but found that is a little harder on my new 5 speed.

funny mine holds 20 ozers just fine...I'd say if you just need it bigger then dremel out the cup holder so its a little wider....but ya for cans and things the between seat and centre console works great

the only way mine holds a 20 oz is to sit it upside down.

Buy yourself a travel mug and pour it in there.

Or are you looking for something a little more complicated?

i use nalgene bottles, and there's no way the stock holder is even going to support, no less stabilize, one of those of any size -- 16, 32 tall, 32 wide. not happening. so i fabbed up my own to replace the plastic junk-cup in the no-man's land behind the shifters in my PU. works great -- i cut it very tight and lined it with vinyl. the bottle stayed put up one side and down the other of hancock, tomichi, browns and breakneck passes one day.

i bought a 3.99 plastic console at a local auto parts store about 4 years ago when i did a bucket seat swap in my '84 pickup. i've got the same console in my '79 now, it works great.

maybe your rig is doing you a favor...how's about trying 16 ounces of pure, refreshing h2o?
just giving you a hard time...it's never made sense to me that the cupholder is 1) front of the vents 2) entirely blocking the climate controls. go figure.

There is an upside to having the cup holder infront of the vents. Drinks stay cool w/the AC on. They stay warm with the heat on. Its annoying that they block the climate control levers and stuff though.

I still have the stock one in front of the vents, mostly. It's more electrical tape than anything though. If anyone is thinking of replacing it, here's what I found: $64 new from the dealer, and $40 from a Toyota junkyard. Can you freaking believe that? I could probably have one hand carved from mahogany by a mermaid princess for that price.

Fill the center console with a hard foam or like material then cut to fit.

Sort of like this:

aftermarket cupholders

if you still want to use the factory cupholder, there is a cupholder adapter that holds mugs and biggulps

or this product wedges up between the seat cushion and center console (more for vehicles with no cupholder at all)
