oil pressure guage no longer working.

my oil pressure guage dropped down to nothing today. 3.0 v6 175000 miles still runs fine im hoping its lying to me and the guage just broke. It runs fine is there a easy, cheap, quick way to tell if i still have oil pressure or if i have a huge problem like a oil pump shot or just a old wore out guage. dont want to chance it. Thanks guys

first of all i would make sure it didnt come unplugged. and make sure there is a good connection. other wise you could remove the sender a hook up a manuel gauge just to see.

If it still runs fine, I would guess the sending unit is bad. They don't usually run very well or for very long with no oil pressure. Ask me how i know this. You can do as Toytech said and screw in a pressure gauge using generic plumbing to see if it has pressure. Or just replace the switch. After checking the wiring of course.

Good luck.
